Dervent Monastery/ Manastirea Dervent

Dervent Monastery was founded between 1929 and 1936 on a location known as “the Healing Cross”, close to the former Dervent fortress, in the immediate vicinity of one of the Danube river banks. In Turkish, “Dervent” means “across the valley”. The monastic establishment is visited by many people, particularly on the day known as the “Lifting of the Holy Cross” (celebrated on September 14th) and is regarded as a sacred healing place.

I took a trip there last Sunday and wanted to share some pictures with you. My advice is to visit it if you get the chance, as the place is a harmonious mix of past and present, nature and architecture, history and spirituality, tradition and contemporaneity.

I wore something simple, comfy, right for a trip. I usually avoid uncomfortable clothing while traveling.

Manastirea Dervent a fost fondata intre anii 1929 si 1936, pe locul cunoscut drept “Crucea de Leac”, in apropierea fostei cetati Dervent si in vecinatatea unuia dintre malurile Dunarii. In limba turca, “Dervent” inseamna “peste vale”.  Lacasul de cult este vizitat de multi, in special in ziua “Ridicarii Sfintei Cruci” (sarbatorita pe data de 14 septembrie) si este cunoscut drept un loc sacru de vindecare.

Multumesc!
